Sewing School: The Ladder Stitch

September 14, 2018 in Sewing School by Laura ONeal

Welcome to Sewing School!  Let’s talk about the ladder stitch.

I’ll be the first to admit that I loathe hand sewing.  I hate it so much I will do whatever it takes to NOT do it!  However, any sewist worth their weight will tell you, there are some skills you need! The Ladder Stitch is one of them.

The ladder stitch is a pretty nifty way to finish an opening.  Whether it be a pillow or a belt this stitch comes in handy.  It’s a stitch that we’ll be using on the upcoming cardigan pattern.  Have you seen it?  It’s lovely and super fun and it’s coming soon.  Did I mention it comes in women’s and girls sizes? Oh yes, it’s awesome!!

Thank you for this tutorial. I too hate hand sewing!!! You make it look easy and I can’t believe you can’t see the stitches at all after you’re done.
