It’s Day 3 of the Jessie Sew Along!
On Day 1 we assembled our pattern and Day 2 was all about selecting and cutting our fabric pieces. Today we are finally going to turn on our machines and do some sewing!
If you are making your Jessie with the regular high back then you will assemble your shoulder and side seams, and if applicable construct your sleeves and add them to your bodice.
All you will have left is adding your neckband/binding and sleeve bands/binding if doing a sleeveless version.
If you are doing either the racerback or strappy back version you will assemble your shoulder seams and then add the neckband/binding. Your racerback piece also requires bands/binding so you will need to do that before attaching it. The pattern pieces include placement guides for the racerback and strappy back pieces, however I recommend basting or pinning your pieces in place and try it on to make sure you are comfortable with the placement. Once you have them where you want, go ahead and stitch them in place.
Doing the bindings can be a little intimidating but our awesome team member Laura has put together some video tutorials to walk you through the process.

And if you prefer to do bands, no worries, there is a video for that method as well.

Days 3 and 4 have been dedicated to construction but if you finish ahead of schedule, feel free to go ahead and share your finished Jessie. I’ll open up the Jessie Sew Along entry thread where you enter to win a prize. Just post a screenshot or permalink as a comment for each time you have shared your completed Jessie(s) across various Facebook groups, Instagram, Pinterest, etc. At the conclusion of the sew along I will draw winners.
[…] If you missed yesterday or are still working on those steps, be sure to check out the Day 3 blog post which has some really great video tutorials for adding your bands or binding […]
