Description
The Halftime Hoodie is the perfect answer to “What should I sew for the men in my life?” It’s also the perfect answer to “What should I sew for my man that I might also like to wear?” Or, maybe you are a man who enjoys sewing and this is the perfect thing to add to your own wardrobe! Who am I kidding? I supposedly made one for my husband, but it is now folded neatly in MY closet. 🙂
Options for the Halftime Hoodie include:
- Crewneck
- Hood
- 2 size options for Kangaroo Pocket (regular and oversized)
- Short and Tall cuffs (that can include thumbholes)
- sizes XXS-5XL
The Halftime Hoodie is a loose-fitting sweatshirt pattern intended for medium to heavy weight knit fabrics such as sweatshirt fleece. Fleece and thicker French Terry will work as well. If using French Terry, please consider the weight and drape of the fabric. If it is thin, the garment will be much looser than intended by the pattern. Fabric with at least 10% stretch is recommended. This is a loose-fit pattern based mainly on chest size. The pattern is available in men’s sizes XXS-5XL. The last picture shows the size chart and fabric requirements. Don’t forget to check out the Halftime Hoodie Bundle.
AS ALWAYS…
This listing is for a downloaded PDF sewing pattern, NOT a finished product. Your download should immediately pop up after purchasing, but you can also log into your account at any time and download the package again. Your downloads will include a professionally drawn pattern with trimless pages and layers.
The pattern pieces included are formatted for 8.5×11, A4 (typically outside of the US), Projector, and A0 printers. Please remember to NOT use the A4 pattern unless you are located outside of the US and own an A4 printer and A4 paper. The A0 pattern is specifically designed for large format printing. You have permission from 5 out of 4 Patterns to have this pattern printed at your local copy shop.
The separate tutorial download includes hyperlinks to help you navigate to whichever options you’re interested in doing. It also includes professionally drawn images for each tutorial step as well as pictures for steps that might be a little tricky. We take great pains to make the tutorial as clear as possible! We’ve even included links to our YouTube channel, where you can find video tutorials on certain steps.
We hope that you love the Halftime Hoodie. Please join the 5 out of 4 Patterns Group on Facebook and share your creations! We love seeing them.

I checked with Jessica on the 5 out of 4 FB Group with my Husband’s measurements (yay for beer bellies – ugh!), and made him a pullover hoodie with front pocket and just used binding for a no-sleeve version (as per his request).
it was a simple sew, and perfect for the stretch fleece fabric I bought for him. I used old t-shirt fabric for the inner hoodie lining, and had no issues with the two different fabrics – they lie flat, and I topstitched around the outside of the hood for a flat lay.
I added 3″ to the length of the hoodie (tall Husband), and did not adjust the pattern grading – for a perfect fit!
Yay! We are both happy, and I’ll be whipping him up another one for the fall.
Maria Benton –
Hello 🙂 Does this hoodie have a pattern hack to make it a zip hoodie? My husband loves zip hoodies.

Hi Marie, no, this pattern doesn’t have a hack to make it a zip hoodie. But, we do have the Eric that is a full zip hoodie jacket.

This may be considered a masculine cut, or straight fit, but I make this pattern for me and I’m a curvy female! I positively love this pattern for a nice solid sweatshirt. It’s my all time fav pattern. It’s a solid basic staple in my pattern stash.
