Let’s get right to today’s patterns:
Knot Your Average Shirt & Dress
I remember the first time I made this pattern. The oohs and ahhhs of those around me were endless. I come back to this pattern again and again. It can be casual, sophisticated and even sexy.
Here are the details:
The Knot Your Average Shirt and Dress pattern has multiple options to meet your changing needs. The pattern provides information for maternity modifications and includes detailed instructions to make the pattern nursing friendly for both the shirt and dress versions. Past your nursing days? No problem. There’s an option to cut the pattern as a non-nursing shirt and dress.
Options Include:
- Information for maternity modifications
- Detailed instructions to make the pattern nursing friendly for both the shirt and dress versions
- Sleeveless, elbow length, long, and extra long sleeve options
- Shirt and dress lengths
- Information on ruching the side seams
- Sizes XXS-3XL with plans to extend sizing in the near future
Fabric Talk:
This pattern requires stretch knits with at least 25% stretch. I prefer something with a lycra blend, especially if
I’m making the breastfeeding option, but other options include jersey or interlock. Lycra blends such as rayon,
polyester, cotton, and modal will work beautifully. I do not recommend directional prints. There is a section
under the knot on the upper bodice that will be upside down. If it is a small print, it won’t be noticeable.

based on 56” knit fabric width and in yards. Extra fabric may be required to match patterns or stripes or if you
