I am so excited to share with you the look I recreated as part of our “Sew Pinspired” contest currently going on in the 5 out of 4 Facebook group and across social media using the hashtag #5oo4SewPinspired.
Most participants are choosing their own looks to recreate, however I left my sewing inspiration in the hands of our awesome members in the Facebook group. They were tasked with scouring the internet, magazines, etc. and share photos of looks they felt could be recreated using patterns from 5 out of 4. They came through with some amazing ideas from formal dresses, to fitness apparel, to casual looks. It was tough to narrow it down to a winner, but I finally went with this entry:
I loved the floral sleeves of the top and the solid bodice paired with the vest and distressed jeans. The purse and casual sneakers really pulled it together, and I was excited to try my hand. It was suggested to use the Aspen vest, Easy Tee, and Zen pants to recreate the look. Now one of the great things about being inspired by fashion and sewing our own clothing is that we can truly make it our own. Just because we are inspired by a look doesn’t mean that we have to replicate it. That being said, I am more of a leggings girl and feel you can never have too many raglans in your closet. I decided to take this inspiration and make it my own by using the Nancy Raglan, Ninja leggings, and Aspen vest patterns. Here is my look:
I still went with the floral sleeves and solid body of the inspiration tee and used a jegging denim knit fabric for pants. Both fabrics for my shirt came from Fabric Mart Fabrics and the fabric for my leggings came from Zenith and Quasar. I dusted off a neglected purse from my closet and grabbed a trusty pair of converse shoes to complete the look. It’s definitely an outfit that is more ‘Me’ and one that will be worn often.
We certainly hope that you will join the ‘Sew Pinspired’ contest and find some inspiration and motivation to recreate a look or two. We have some amazing sponsors for this contest and will be giving away a Brother 2340CV Coverstitch Machine, shop credits to So Sew English, Zenith and Quasar, EBS fabrics, Jaded Threads, and Sahara Fabrics, as well as patterns from 5 out of 4. There may also be some surprise giveaways throughout the contest so be sure to check the group often for more chances to win.
