Iris is a simple, straight-forward sew with a big wow-factor. You can choose how much coverage overlap you desire. Iris is perfect to wear alone as a casual pant, over a swim suit or even dressed up! The Iris Shorts, Capris, and Pants features:
- A semi-relaxed fit designed for apparel woven fabrics such as rayon challis or bubble crepe.
- Rear pants darts for shaping
- Less or More coverage for both front and back pants for you to customize your look
- Short shorts, long shorts, capris and pants lengths
- Video on how to wear your pants (plus bonus instructions on how to convert your pants to a jumpsuit)
- Sizing XXS-5XL based on our women’s size chart (see last image for size chart)

The pattern pieces included are formatted for 8.5×11, A4 (typically outside of the US), and A0 printers. Please remember to NOT use the A4 pattern unless you are located outside of the US and own an A4 printer and A4 paper. The A0 pattern is specifically designed for large format printing. You have permission from 5 out of 4 Patterns to have this pattern printed at your local copy shop.
The separate tutorial download includes hyperlinks to help you navigate to whichever options you’re interested in doing. It also includes professionally drawn images for each tutorial step as well as pictures for steps that might be a little tricky. We take great pains to make the tutorial as clear as possible! We’ve even included links to our YouTube channel, where you can find video tutorials on certain steps.

I thought the Iris pants looked so cool! I’ve never seen anything like them. I am just getting back into sewing and don’t have a lot of dedicated time to sew. That being said, this pattern was easy to follow. I really liked the explanation of frech seams. This took me most of the summer but I have to waste a lot of time setting up and tearing down my sewing station each time I want to work on a project. I may only get a chance to sew once every 3 weeks or so too. I would say this is a quick pattern otherwise. The only place I had difficulty was the rounded edge on the hemline. I like the flowy/drape effect of this pattern and it makes it a little more forgiving. I will definitely try another 5oo4 pattern again. When I showed my family the final result, my 5 yo daughter gave me a big thumbs up!
