The Escapade Top and Dress has plenty of options to help you get through a hot summer!
It includes:
- Bra/Bikini, Tank/Tankini, Swim dress/summer dress
- Shelf bra with optional removable cups
- Straps can be made into a halter, sewn straight, or crossed
- Tank can have regular or banded hem
- Maternity option for tank and dress
- Optional ruching for non-maternity tank and dress
The Escapade may look like just a bathing suit, but it is really fantastic as a summer dress too. It will be perfect for watching tons of swim meets this summer! The pattern pieces included are formatted for 8.5×11, A4 (typically outside of the US), Projector, and A0 printers. Please remember to NOT use the A4 pattern unless you are located outside of the US and own an A4 printer and A4 paper. The A0 pattern is specifically designed for large format printing. You have permission from 5 out of 4 Patterns to have this pattern printed at your local copy shop.
The separate tutorial download includes hyperlinks to help you navigate to whichever options you’re interested in doing. It also includes professionally drawn images for each tutorial step as well as pictures for steps that might be a little tricky. We take great pains to make the tutorial as clear as possible! We’ve even included links to our YouTube channel, where you can find video tutorials on certain steps.
The Women’s Escapade Top and Dress pattern is available for women’s sizes XXS-5XL. The size chart and fabric requirements are listed in the last image.

Versatility is key! Bra or swim top, shirt, tankini or dress. Adjustable ties offer easy access for nursing or modesty. So many options! A quick fix for what to wear. Pair with the Riptides for fun swim wear!

I LOVE LOVE LOVE this top – as a bikini top, it is SO comfortable and was a really easy to understand pattern. It takes away the tension halter bikini tops were putting on my neck and shoulders, and I feel so comfortable in it all day long. The rushing effect on the front is also extremely flattering!
As a tankini, it shows off my best assets, and hides the fact that I had Poutine for lunch!

I am so in love with this tankini! I have 3, and can’t say enough good things about it.
The front ruching ties allow me to enhance my chest area, I don’t have to wear a bra underneath, and it was an easy to follow sew with well thought out instructions.
I have also made this as a bikini top – again, purely comfortable with no strain on my neck and shoulders (my problems areas).
Thanks for covering up my lumps & bumps, and enhancing what nature gave me (ha ha).
This pattern would also make a great nightie 😉
