Labor Day SALE!!

September 4, 2015 in SALE by Jessica Pierce

Labor Day**WINNERS have been chosen!***

If your week has looked anything like mine, you’re probably looking forward to a holiday weekend. 😉 Here are some highlights from my life:

  • Husband was away for work for three nights! Imagine bedtime with five kids who are 9, 7, 5, and twin 3 year olds
  • One twin interrupted my desperate attempt to workout by putting sunscreen all over herself
  • House was clean for all of 2.5 minutes before an entire box of Chex cereal was dumped on the floor
  • One twin used fabric scissors on frozen Gogurts
  • Twins hid under the sewing table with a (now empty) box of chocolates
  • Twins decided that licking the mirrors in the dressing room was a fun game
  • Twins also like playing hide and seek inside the clothing carousels at stores.  SERIOUSLY, people! I’m trying to keep track of five kids while I’m shopping buying as quickly as possible.

I have a mantra (that is sometimes said through clenched teeth), “I’M GOING TO MISS THIS WHEN IT’S GONE!!!” This GIF made me laugh and laugh because my husband cooks breakfast (so this would totally be my response!

large

Earlier in the week, my youngest shared her love of coloring/drawing all over her big sister’s homework! The oldest broke down in tears after all the work she put into it. Additionally, my oldest decided to wait ALL week to start on 2 assignments that were due today. Needless to say, we were in crunch mode until 11:30pm getting assignments done. 🙁 So, we’re hoping for a stress-free and fun holiday weekend! 🙂

Oh my the things kids do, especially when they sense or know you are at a disadvantage. My favorite kids shinanagins to this day actually involves my little sister. We were hosting a Japanese foreign exchange student I returned home with my parents to find the entires kitchen, living room and our Japanese studded the covered in white powder that turned out to be powdered sugar. You could taste the powder sugar in the air. It was everywhere. Apparently my little sister, 4 at the time had been jumping around with powder sugar.
Another time I was looking for that same sister. All I had to do to find her was follow the chocolate syrup trail from the kitchen, through the living room, down the hall, and I to her bedroom. When I found her covered in syrup head to toe I asked did you have chocolate syrup. She seriously shook her head and said no. Lol. She was the spunkiest little kid, so I have several crazy memories wrapped around her.
My kids tend to make the typical spills and messes at the worst times like spilling juice right after I mop. Haha

Made 3yo a wallet for his birthday with paper money in it… 3yo carried with him all day and insisted on “paying” for the shopping at the supermarket with said paper money.
Made 3yo a steering wheel softie for driving his cardboard box car… 3yo promptly steps into it and runs around the house shouting “walk me Mum, I’m a dog!”.

The other day he wanted to put the money in to pay as well and in his rush to not be helped since he is so independent and grown up he promptly shoved my $20 note into the receipt disposal!

Craziest things my kids have done this week? Hid in the hallway closet and jumped out to scare me with duck calls when I came in the door from work. (Duck call – it’s like blowing on a whistle, only the “whistle” makes a duck noise.)

Thing that has made me the craziest? That’d be the entire spray bottle of cleaner my 3 year old sprayed on the dresser, himself perched on top of the dresser.

Or craziest thing that has come out of my mouth? “Well, there may be a pretend emergency, but that is a REAL WALL,” after my 4 year old slammed the baby gate into the wall as his “ambulance” raced to an “emergency.” Kids!

Miss 3 tipped out a packet of cereal all over the lounge floor while I was bringing in wood to keep the fire going.

I walked into the room to see a “new carpet” and miss 3 lying on her tummy with her arm stretched out, picking up rice bubbles to eat.

We discovered this week that my oldest needs glasses. As we were sitting at the little table, trying to choose frames, my youngest decided to crawl under one of the chairs and pretend she was a dog. Gotta love ’em! Luckily, the gentleman who was helping us seems to love (and understand!) children and started telling her about the new puppy he just got.

13 yr old is trying to make weight for football, but holiday weekend means no practice or game. So he cries about running to stay on top of things.
4 yr old decided it was a fun game to scream at the top of her lungs this morning at 8 am, which is great if everyone were nto asleep.
11 year old took all the baseball cardsout of the protective sheets- to build a house of cards. I’m too scared to see if he used any of the valuable ones.
unsure which child decided our weekend treats of little debbie snacks and sodas belong under a pile of laundry in the bedroom which now has a trail of ants.

    Motherhood is awesome!

My 7yr old twins have actually been pretty calm this week, which is a huge change. I think they’ve been confused by being able to sleep in so many days in a row (Fri was a professional development day so they’ve had no school since Thurs). But we have had our cute moments. My son was looking at Amazon with me to add to his wish list and when he saw the prices of some things he said, “Why do you do this to me, people?” My daughter has been walking around saying, “I’m a reading machine” because she’s been going through books like they were water (gotta love it when she begs to go to the library).

On the first day she was only they’re an hour and as she was leaving she said “why can’t I stay like the other children?” The response that they were a year older and had started last year didn’t seem to wash too well! Day 2 and as she’s leaving after a full session she says “when can I go home by myself?” I’m really happy she’s an outgoing, independent child but just slow down!

My little guy has “helped” me so much in my effort to clean my craft room this week! Once in the three minutes it took me to run across the hall and go to the bathroom, he opened up the drawer to my craft table, grabbed a paper cutter (the sliding kind), and began cutting all the paper he could get his hands on (including a bill). Another time he apparently thought I was folding fabric wrong and undid a pile of newly folded fabric before I could get it in a cubby. And of course now that the room is together, he’s much more interested in occupying my seat than the corner workstation I have all set up for him. But I love having my shadow helping me out!

I’m a mom of five as well. It’s constantly chaos around here. My teens think it’s funny to get my 7 year old to say things none of them are allowed to say. My pre teen think she’s old enough to wear tight clothes, makeup and heels. I don’t even wear any of that stuff. Totally know about the house staying clean for a few minutes. It constantly looks like a bomb of girl stuff went off in my house. 4 of my 5 are girls. I need a vacation if only I thought my husband would survive.

Oh mercy. There are so many. When my daughter was 2 1/2, she and her friend smeared Vicks vaporub all through her hair. I could smell it a mile away but didn’t get to her bathroom in time. It took 7 washings to get it out. To be fair, her friend is from Ethopia and she thought the Vicks was ‘product’ and was working it in my daughter’s hair to be helpful. 🙂

SO ridiculous! My husband is in the military and he went to Korea this summer. The first week he was gone my 2 year old shoved a popcorn kernel up his nose, my 4 year old had full body hives as an allergic reaction to antibiotics, our yard/shed flooded, and my car battery died. I didn’t even try to homeschool them that week. I just threw in the towel haha. Murphy’s Law.

Wow, you are one busy Mama…I always wished we had more children, we have 2 grown children (actually 4, my DIL & SIL) & 3 grandchildren.

When my daughter & son were young, our best friends came over & stayed with us for a few days. They have 3 children, 1 daughter & 2 sons, ours & theirs were 1 year apart so they played well together, this was probably in the late, late 80’s. Well our sons were definitely being boys & they decided to do an experiment with batteries, gasoline, & a bandaid can. Praise God, the girls were spying on them…the boys had placed the battery in the can, poured the gasoline on it & was getting ready to light the match…OMG They ran in & tattled on them….so very thankful for them being tattle tales at that time. They did not succeed with their experiment & we had a long talk with them about what could have happened.

I do have to say….”they grow up all too quickly”…!! ;(

    Thank you for the giveaway…;o}
God’s Blessings to you & your wonderful family, Renee A

My 3 year old decided to scream, at the top of her lungs, if anyone so much as looked at her while we were shopping this afternoon. I still have no idea what started it. We ended that fun trip with my 4 year old suddenly dropping to the ground on the way out of the store, blocking the exit, and sobbing that she couldn’t walk outside without sunglasses, it was too bright out there. I ended up having to pick her up so people could get past us, and carried her to the car as she wailed.

I’ve had to do that over the GIANT shopping carts, the one with the “car” attached. Twice actually. I was greatly pregnant the first time. Most fellow shoppers were quite sympathetic. Of course there was the one to had to say “why are you letting her do that?”. The end result was carrying her out of the store over my shoulder. The second time I forgot a baby carrier and had the newborn in one arm so there was no way I could push that lug of a cart one handed. Somehow I got her into the bottom of the cart and hauled her out that way. I haven’t returned to the store without my husband since she pulled that one.

We were camping for her birthday and had to leave her party to take her to the closest ER – 45 minutes away! My oldest also got stung by a wasp. And the RV lost half its tread on a tire causing sparks to fly while driving… hubby changing the tire on an RV in the rain. What a weekend!

My 1 yo son and his accomplice pulled out the boxes and made stairs of them. My daughter came running in a few minutes later saying “Mommy! My brother is on the WAY high shelf in my room and he CAN NOOOOOOT get down!” I run in to the rescue, and he is sitting on the shelf with his legs dangling and a huge smile. I can’t even imagine. I have two 5 1/2 and 3. My 5 1/2 decided to wipe down the table with a fully soaked hand towel instead of a washcloth and she also thought wetting the towel in the bathroom sink was the best place to start instead of the kitchen sink that is right next to the table. I found out what’s he was doing when I took my 3 year old to the bathroom to use the potty and the floor was covered in puddles of water… I followed the trail of dripped water puddles through the hall through the kitchen into the dining room. “Thanks for cleaning the table honey, now can you use a dry towel to dry the floors?”
