Welcome to the Tipsy Tuesday recap!
I’ve been doing live videos for almost three months now. While I still haven’t worked out all of the technological kinks, I’m making progress and we can all say HURRAY for no longer being sideways! In the future, I’d like to provide links or posts on the blog to have everything organized, but as you can imagine I’m not very good at getting the blogs posted! So, I can’t promise that I’ll blog about every live video, but here are the ones I did between November and the end of January. I’ve included some show notes with I talked about in each one of them. If you click on the dates, you’ll go to the videos in the Facebook group. Starting in January, I posted them on YouTube and then I tried to figure out how to be in both YT and FB at the same time! I’m sure I’ll figure it out eventually! Enjoy! Please leave me a comment if you have topics you’d like for me to talk about on future sewing school videos.
Introductory video…the first of the sideways starts. heh I think I asked for pattern inspiration and basically just said, “hey this is a thing I’m doing” and then I proceeded to sweat profusely and try not and throw up.
I show off the pattern weights that my family made together (but that I never wrote the blog post for!! sigh). I talked about a system of organizing my patterns that I found on the Sew Beeloved Instagram page. You can see her post here (on her blog).
Another sideways start. Sigh. BUT–you get to see my cute son! He’s my camera man this week…I tell a funny tidbit about a stock show in Ft Worth and I sigh a lot. I also show off all of my UFO’s (unfinished objects) and I show off a beautiful muslin of the new Sydney dress.
This week I actually start to provide some value instead of ranting about random things in my life. I talked about my bulk clear elastic source. You can get it here. I also made a joke about being sideways because really the best thing I can do is make you laugh and remind you that there are lots of people out there acting more silly than you. heh I also talk about my podcast with Make and Decorate with Stephanie Socha Design.
I start a local sewing group for people in the greater Atlanta area! You can join the Atlanta Area Sewing Friends Facebook group here (if you live in the Atlanta area!). Woohoo. I shared a hat with a pompom that I made for my daughter’s gymnastics team. I talked about the Sewing School video on the Burrito Method of lining a bodice. I also mention the lovely ladies at Sly Fox Fabrics and Purple Seamstress Fabrics. Purple Seamstress will send you swatch sheets of all of their color options in brushed poly, cotton lycra, and french terry for FREE!
We did a family fashion show! My girls show off their Christmas dresses and I talk about what patterns I used and where the I bought the fabrics. I mentioned Sly Fox Fabrics, So Sew English Fabrics, Mood Fabrics, and Zenith and Quasar.
I tell you all about the 5oo4 4 yr celebration and giveaways (which you missed if you’re reading this now…) and I mention the Make and Decorate with Stephanie Socha Design podcast as well as the Greater Atlanta Sewing Friends group on Facebook.
I introduce the Jenny Cross Front Tunic, give more details about our awesome 4yr giveaway (that is now over), tell you about the Little Ninja Leggings (our newest FREE pattern), and talk about the Sewing School episode on how to install clear elastic. Plus, my podcast interview with Stephanie Socha is LIVE! You can listen here. 🙂
I give away lots of prizes as part of our 5oo4 4-year birthday celebration (you missed it). Sponsors included ebs fabrics, Snowy Owl Custom Fabrics, and Heartthrob Threads. Plus, I open up the segment by showing off my awesome dance moves. Part 2 of my podcast interview with Stephanie Socha from the Make and Decorate podcast is live. You can listen here.
This week is awesome. I talk all about Super Plush from So Sew English Fabrics and I describe the amount of stretch and whether it can be used for leggings. I talk about which patterns to choose for this super soft fabric! My family loves this fabric and it is perfect for winter. I also talk about a new textured knit from Zenith and Quasar. I made some Little Ninjas for my 12yo to wear to climbing. She LOVES the new fabric and LOVES her new leggings. I made this awesome HTV vinyl decal for a new tank for her too. Want the file? You can download it here for FREE.
I’ll be posting the February videos on a future post! Then I hope to be posting individual posts each week. Woot. I hope you join us for some of the live videos. We typically have a good time and I try and share a little bit about my life and about sewing each week!
