Introducing the Girls’ Agility and the Girls’ Riptide Shorties!

August 26, 2015 in New Patterns by Jessica Pierce

It took me a little while, but two of our most popular patterns are now available for girls!

The Girls’ Agility Tank and Dress is very similar to the women’s version, but has an added feature as well.  Included in the pattern are these options:

  • Sports Bra,
  • Slim Tank,
  • A-line Tank,
  • A-line Dress,
  • Overlay Tank with drawstring or banded hem, and
  • Strappy or T-back options.

My testers were so patient with me this round.  The overlay option of the Agility tank is quite tricky to get right because I don’t want to show skin below the bottom of the bra (under the arms).  Since kids develop at different rates and in different ways, I had to go from a toddler’s belly to a teenager’s developing body.  Oy!  I am SO thankful to all of my testers!!

soccer agilityWhile a lot of the testers’ pictures show the Agility as a bathing suit, it is really so much more than that.  My girls prefer the overlay option as a tank top.  It is perfect for our hot weather!  My oldest loves to wear hers to soccer and while riding her bike.  I think it’s fantastic for using wickaway jersey knits for the overlay.  It helps make the heat a little more bearable.

For the twins, I made an overlay tank with a banded hem and an A-line dress.  When  I started thinking about designing this pattern for little girls, I didn’t think I’d like the idea of the overlay tank on a toddler, but I have to be honest, I think it is ridiculously cute.  The A-line dress is a nice, sporty look and is just begging to be appliqued.  As always, getting pictures of toddlers is tricky. 😉

For the Girls’ Riptide Reversible Shorties, I wanted to provide my daughters with the same cute shorties I made for myself.  They both went away to summer camp for 8 days recently and LOVED having matching swimsuits.  I used the Versatility bra for my 7yo’s bikini top and the Agility bra for my 9yo’s.  The girls said that the bathing suits were perfect for their very active camp.7 and size 57 and 5 back with Versatiliy bra and Agility bra

Since summer is drawing to a close here in the states, I wanted to use the Riptide pattern for gymnastics and dance shorts for my 7 year old.  I left off the ruching for these activities, but it would have been fine for dance.  This is my daughter’s first year on the gymnastics team and she was excited to show off her handstands for our photo shoot.  🙂 She loves having the flexibility of two pairs of shorts in one!

My oldest daughters love working out with me, so I’m happy I can now make workout clothes for them too.

The Girls’ Riptide Reversible Shorties and the Girls’ Agility Tank and Dress are both offered from size 2 to 18.  Both patterns have multiple options (one tester used it as a tank and pajama shorts and another made a nightgown!).  The patterns will be on sale through midnight EST on Wednesday, August 26th.  As always, you can use the code “buy3” to save an extra 15% off any three patterns.
