My kids told me I already have far too many pumpkins, so I did my best to think of a non-pumpkin fall decoration to make. Candy corn is a classic fall candy and makes adorable little guys for my fireplace. I included a template to make it super easy.
Supplies:
- Felt: white, orange and yellow
- Woven fabric for the legs
- Safety or google eyes
- Embroidery floss and needle or fabric paint
- Rice and optionally dried beans
- Fiber-fil stuffing
- Sewing machine and basic sewing supplies
Body
- Download and print the candy corn template provided
- Each template piece is labeled as to which color you will need
- Top-white: 2 mirrored
- Middle-orange: 2 mirrored
- Bottom-yellow: 2 mirrored
- Legs-woven fabric: 2 mirrored sets-4 pieces total

- Place the top white piece on top of the orange right sides together.
- Pin the edge and sew with a 1/8″ seam allowance.
- Press the seam allowance down.

- Place the orange piece on top of the yellow right sides together.
- Pin and sew with a 1/8″ seam allowance.
- Press the seam allowance down.

- Repeat the same steps with the other set of candy pieces.

Legs
- Pin each set of legs right sides together.
- Sew around the perimeter with a 1/8″ seam allowance leaving the top edge open.
- Turn both legs right side out.

- You don’t have to use a funnel to fill the legs, but it is helpful. Use the rice to fill up just the feet.

- Push in a small amount of stuffing about halfway up the leg. You just want enough to give it fullness, but not so that it is stiff.
- Sew across the leg above the stuffing (where the pins are shown in the photo below) to create a bend in the leg.
- Push in another small amount of stuffing above the stitching.

Face
- Give your candy corn a cute little face by using safety eyes or google eyes and embroidery floss or fabric paint to give it a personality.

Put it all Together
- Gather both sides of the candy corn and legs.
- With the back piece of candy corn right side up, pin the raw edge of each leg along the bottom edge of the yellow section.

- Place the face side of the candy corn on top of the legs with its right side down.
- Pin around all of the edges leaving a section open large enough to turn it right side out. (I left one side of the orange section open.)

- Sew around the perimeter with a 1/8″ seam allowance making sure to backstitch multiple times and the beginning and end to keep it secure when turning it.
- Pull the legs and the rest of the body through the opening to turn your candy corn right side out.

Stuff and Close
- Use dried beans or rice to fill up the bottom portion of the candy corn so he can sit. I filled mine up to where the yellow and orange meet.
- Grab your stuffing and fill it up the rest of the way to your desired squishiness.

- Find some thread that closely matches the felt and use a ladder stitch to sew it closed.

He’s so cute! You can even make him a little friend.
