25 Sewist Stocking Stuffers 2020

November 24, 2020 in Gift Guide by Laura ONeal

Remember yesterday when I told you we came together as a team this year to accomplish an extensive set of gift guides for 2020? Well, today it’s all about stocking stuffers for sewists! That’s right, if you sew or you’re searching for a gift for someone who sews this is a great resource. We put our heads together and I think this gift guide is going to knock your socks off!

Basic Notions

Let’s start with the team favorite!

1 – Washaway Wondertape

This stuff is the best. Jessica tried to get me to use it years ago and I refused. Then, I got a gift card and bought some and now I can’t live without it! It really is awesome stuff. The best thing is that you don’t have to buy the expensive stuff. Amazon has an off brand that works wonderfully at a great price! Find it HERE!

2 – Wonder Clips

These clips are pretty popular these days but I remember refusing to buy them. Don’t be like me, don’t be dumb like me, you need these, they’re amazing! Get your wonder clips HERE!

3 – Thread

If you’re going to sew you’re going to need thread… I mean, that’s pretty obvious. My favorite place to get thread is WAWAK! I can buy in bulk, the prices are low and the shipping is fast. Find your thread HERE.

4 – Heat Erase Pens

There’s not much to say… Sometimes you need mark your fabric. When those times come Heat Erase Pens are pretty cool. Get your pens HERE.

5 – Tailor’s Chalk

Some of us like markers and some of us like chalk. I’m a chalk gal! I love this chalk cartridge set. If you’re like me you can get your chalk HERE!

6 – Magnetic Pin Cushion

Everyone loves a good pin cushion and a team favorite is the magnetic kind! They’re super cool and I love mine. Unfortunately, earlier this year I had to buy a new one since, while shooting a video, I sat my iron on it and totally melted it. Happily, they’re pretty inexpensive and easy to find. You can find one HERE!

7 – Bone Folder

Yeah, this sounds weird but trust me, when you need to push out some crisp corners or even mark fabric, this will come in handy. Get one HERE.

8 – That Purple Thang

So, this is one of those weird things again. HA! Rachelle introduced me to this little tool. It can do similar things as a bone folder. Basically, it pushes, pulls and pokes. It’s a pretty cool tool. Get one for a stocking near you HERE.

9 – Knit Stay Tape

Knit Stay Tape a is a big fave of mine. I stumbled upon it while searching amazon once. It was a great impulse buy. I can lightly stabilize seams and helps a ton with hemming some of the pesky knit fabrics. Get some HERE.

10 – Hump Jumper

Ever had issues getting over a bulky seam? This little tool will really help you out! Get one HERE.

11 – Bobbin Holder

This is exactly what it says it is. It’s a thing that holds your bobbins. I need one, you need one. Get one or two or three HERE.

12 – Turn-it-All

This is a pretty useful tool that helps you turn tubes. It doesn’t sound like something you’ll need but you will. Get one HERE.

Cutting

If we’re going to sew we need to be able to cut things. Here’s a small list of things that cut.

13 – Scissors

I love my Gingher Dressmaker Shears. They’re spring action style and they are the best. I recommend this brand time and time again. You won’t regret getting/giving these awesome scissors. Find them HERE.

14 – Thread Snips

Again, you can’t go wrong with Gingher. The little snips are so dang handy! I know you have other scissors but these little are perfect for threads and very small things. Get them HERE.

15 – Seam Ripper

This is one of Jessica’s favorite things. It would be a wonderful stocking stuffer for any sewist. Check out the site thoroughly because there’s some awesome things for people who don’t sew as well. Check it out HERE.

16 – Rotary Cutter

Jessica really digs her Olfa rotary cutter. It’s a nice weight, comfortable in the hand and cuts nicely. Check it out HERE.

17 – Cutting Mat

If you have a rotary cutter you definitely need a cutting mat. These come in all sizes and really are an awesome addition to any sewing table. You can find them HERE.

Measuring

All crafting requires measuring. Here are some of our favorite measuring tools.

18 – Cloth Measuring Tape

You guessed it, this is a measuring tape made from cloth. HA! It’s pretty great. Find it HERE.

19 – Retractable Measuring Tape

This is one Tiffany’s favorite stocking stuffers. I don’t actually own one but I think I’ll get one. They’re super convenient and easy to store. Find one HERE.

20 – Hem Gauge

I love my hem gauge. I use it all the time. In fact, I use one so often that I’ve collected several of them. They are handy little tools and perfect for your stocking. Get one HERE.

21 – Quilting Rulers

You don’t have to be quilter to use quilters rulers. These work really well with the cutting mats and rotary cutters. I love mine and you’ll love them as well. Find some HERE.

Fun and Useful Extras

22 – LED Light Strip

These strips are great for lighting tight spaces like your sewing machines. It’s a pretty fun extra to have in your stocking. Get some HERE.

23 – Project Idea Notebook

Whether you use a planner or a cheap spiral notebook having somewhere to document your project ideas or sewing needs is pretty important. Check this one out!

24 – Pens

If you’re going to have a fun notebook, you might as well add some fun pens to go with it and slip them in the stocking too. Look at these fun pens.

25 – Pattern Weights

Pattern weights can be practical or they can be fun. I don’t know about you but I choose fun over practical all day long! LOOK AT THESE!

Well, there you have it. 25 awesome stocking stuffers! I could keep listing things for your stocking but instead I’m going to tell you to take a look at the 5 out of 4 patterns Amazon storefront for even more fun suggestions! GO HERE!

Great list of stocking stuffers, however, I am not planning to wait on Santa and hope he understands the items on my list. I will be placing an Amazon order today for at least half the items on your list cuz I could really use a lot of the items NOW instead of struggling to sew items for a month when I now know there are better, easier and faster ways to sew not to mention to ensure the finished garment looks amazing.
Thanks for taking the time to put the list together. I appreciate your time and insight for compiling the list of sewing tools that with undoubtedly ensure my limited sewing time is as productive and stress free as possible.
